Job Description – Nursing Station Clerk/NSC Trainee CACU – Part‑Time Evening Shift (2504345)
Position SummaryNursing Station Clerks 1 are assigned to inpatient or outpatient units where they greet visitors, answer telephones, perform data entry, maintain clinical logs, prepare and update patient charts, fill medication tickets and pharmacy requisitions, mail patient letters, and deliver supplies and records to an assigned unit.
Responsibilities- Orient patients and families, providing general information about the unit.
- Give information on patient condition and direct visitors to the appropriate locations.
- Process physicians' orders, recording written orders in charts, kardex, flag sheets, or directly into a computer file after review by a registered nurse; fill medication tickets and pharmacy requisitions.
- Receive new admissions.
- Prepare and maintain patient charts, daily log and clinic log.
- One year full‑time clerical, secretarial, or patient care experience in a healthcare setting.
- Six months of full‑time clerical experience in a health care setting; or six months of full‑time secretarial experience in a health care setting; or six months of full‑time patient care experience in a health care setting.
- Successfully complete pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services.
- Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references.
- Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen.
- Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

The salary range for this position is $35,177 – $37,121 per year (prorated by part‑time hours).
