Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Staff Assistant is a valuable member of our team, who provides administrative and executive support and has the ability to interface with all levels of management throughout the hospital. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior communication and organization skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Duties of a TH Staff Assistant II may include but are not limited to the following:
- Obtaining insurance authorizations for office procedures and imaging testing (MRI,PET/CT CT scans etc.) and other special patient needs. May also be required to obtain referrals as needed.
- Assists MD's, PA's and NP's in obtaining and scheduling consultations with other hospital services.
- Will become proficient with all necessary computer applications required in job performance i.e. Cerner power chart, Eclipsys, Patient Keeper, Excel etc.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Performs administrative support duties for assigned MD's, PA's and NP's.
- Answers telephone calls and distributes messages in a timely manner.
- Adheres to HIPPA standards in keeping patient's confidentiality and personal information.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Associate degree and at least 1 year of medical office setting experience.

Ability to prioritize and work independently.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft applications.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with insurance authorizations for medical procedures.
