Job Description - Assistant Athletic Trainer (2504150)
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
- Current NATABOC Certification.
- Two (2) years of full time experience in the full-time athletic training at the collegiate level (grad student experience and/or clinical experience as part of a Master’s program may be considered).
- Licensed or eligible for NY licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
- Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
- Experience with a Division I Athletic Program.
- Understanding of NCAA Compliance Rules (played a Division I, II or III sport, coached in collegiate athletics or as a staff member in a collegiate athletic program).
- Experience working as an athletic trainer with Soccer, Softball, Baseball, Football and/or Basketball programs.
- Experience with concussion baseline and injury tracking software.
- Other certifications (CSCS, PES, CES). CPR/FA/AED Instructor Status.
This position is an Assistant Athletic Trainer within a Division I program which will provide health care for student-athletes and will report to the Associate AD for Sports Medicine. Responsible for using judgment and discretion in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of athletic injuries and illnesses for student-athletes. Educates student-athletes on wellness, professional health and wellbeing. Direct clinical instruction and supervision is provided for master students in the Athletic Training Education Program to facilitate completion of their clinical education requirements.
Responsibilities- Provide athletic training services to maintain the well-being of student-athletes.
- Responsible for the management of catastrophic and life threatening injury at athletic practices or events.
- Oversee daily operation procedures for athletic training facilities, supervise athletic facilities, equipment, and conditions to minimize the risks of injury.
- Provide pre and post-practice/game treatments, educate student-athletes on injuries and preventative techniques, evaluate and manage injuries with referrals, surgery, and follow up care.
- Supervise athletic training students in the Athletic Training Education Program as a preceptor.
- Other duties or projects as assigned.
Maintain comprehensive and accurate medical records, update and manage sport practice/game schedule, coordinate PPE’s and annual paperwork, plan referrals to team physicians and specialists, conduct inventory of all supplies and equipment, coordinate maintenance of facility and equipment, conduct statistical analysis of the facility operation (i.e.: injuries, treatments, etc.), and perform specific administrative duties as assigned.
Schedule CoordinationCommunicate with administrators, coaches, student-athletes, parents, physicians, and other allied health professionals.
Staff SupervisionSupervise athletic training students in the Athletic Training Education Program as a preceptor.
Special NotesThis is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
Evening and weekend work may be required at times.
