. This position develops, organizes, implements, and evaluates instructional material to provide individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage their diabetes at an optimum level. The RN serves as a consultant in the hospital, home, or outpatient setting and as an educator for health‑care providers and community groups. The RN acts as a liaison among members of the health‑care team and external providers to ensure optimal patient care.

• Develop, organize, implement, and evaluate diabetes instructional material.
• Provide consulting and education to patients and health‑care providers.
• Serve as liaison among health‑care team members and external providers.
• Demonstrate knowledge in specialty area, nursing theory, and standards of nursing practice.
• Work independently to assess patients, prioritize multiple demands, and maintain a flexible schedule.
• Utilize equipment and computers; demonstrate proficiency with new technologies.

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred.
• BSN required or willingness to obtain within 3 years.
• Advanced education in Diabetes Management or willingness to complete such education preferred.
• Opportunity for advancement after completing a professional diabetes management program and obtaining Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES).
• Current Iowa RN license required.
