Social Worker – Fostering & Adoption, St Lennan’s (11389)
37 hours per week, Permanent Post
£48,622 - £52,635 per annum (inclusive of £2,997 Distant Islands Allowance per annum)
The postholder will deliver and promote effective fostering, adoption, accommodation services and resources in the Western Isles, ensuring that all children in such placements are receiving a high quality of care and support. You will be required to work, where necessary, in supporting other statutory Social Work services within the Local Authority.
Duties will include assessing and supporting a range of prospective and approved carers, including adoptive parents, foster and respite carers; having a clear and to date understanding of the statutory duties and responsibilities in relation to fostering, adoption, accommodation services and resources; participating in the development of policy and procedures; and participating in, as required, the Department’s Out of Hours Emergency Service Rota.
You must have experience of undertaking assessment, child-centred planning and case reviewing, and of direct intervention work with children and families, along with relevant experience of inter-agency and multi-disciplinary work. You will have good knowledge of GIRFEC in practice along with up-to-date knowledge of adoption and fostering legislation and practice.

A full, unrestricted driving licence is essential.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme as a legal requirement of a regulated role with Children and Protected Adults (Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme - mygov.scot) . This position requires registration with the SSSC.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
