Club Development Officer, Lewis & Harris

22 hours per week, fixed term to 31 March 2027

£21,660 - £23,404 per annum (inclusive of £1,782 Distant Islands Allowance per annum)

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is seeking a motivated and proactive Club Development Officer to support the development of strong, sustainable, safe and inclusive sports clubs across the local authority area. The postholder will work collaboratively with clubs, volunteers, partner organisations and communities to strengthen local club capacity, improve participation opportunities and contribute to the Comhairle’s priorities for sport, health, wellbeing and community development.

You will provide advice and practical support to local sports clubs on governance, volunteer recruitment and retention, safeguarding, inclusion, financial sustainability, club planning and partnership working. You will also help clubs to evidence their impact, develop coach pathways and build positive relationships with schools, Active Schools, Community Sport Hubs, governing bodies and third-sector organisations.

Applicants must have a good understanding of club development, volunteer support, safeguarding, inclusion and partnership working along with knowledge of Sports Development principles and local sporting pathways. You must have excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.

Applicants must be educated to degree level in a relevant field or have equivalent transferable experience and skills. A full current driving licence is essential. You must be willing to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as required by the role.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme as a legal requirement of a regulated role with Children (Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme - mygov.scot).

This post is fixed term until 31 March 2027; however, there may be potential for extension depending on continued funding.

Interviews will be conducted in person, providing candidates with the chance to personally meet the team and experience our work environment.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
