Town of Stoughton Water & Sewer Department

The Town of Stoughton is seeking to fill one full-time (40 hour) Pump Station Operator II position.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: inspection, operation, servicing, and maintenance of diesel and gas driven engines, electrically driven pumps, and auxiliary machinery and equipment utilized in Municipal Water/Wastewater treatment plants and stations; adjusts/calibrates treatment equipment to achieve safe drinking water; ability to understand and operate SCADA controls; records/maintains daily readings and operational logs.

Daily schedule is rotational—including weekends and holidays. Employees are subject to working during declared emergency conditions, such as, but not limited to snow emergencies.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to acquire a Massachusetts Wastewater Collection System certification within 12 months of hire.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience with demonstrated knowledge and experience in Wastewater Collection Systems that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

• Collection System certification preferred.
• OSHA-10 Certification preferred.

All applicants must be able to pass a criminal background/CORI check and a pre‑employment physical including drug testing. This position is also subject to a 12‑month probationary performance period.
