Position Summary:
This full‑time position for a Heavy Highway Estimator is located in Stow, Ohio. The Heavy Highway Estimator will prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates after analyzing drawings and specifications and will provide competitive bids for paving projects. The Heavy Highway Estimator will coordinate timely and competitive bid submissions with team members. Post award, the Heavy Highway Estimator will collaborate with Project Management concerning project hand‑offs and real‑time project management.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
- Review proposals, plans, and specifications; attend pre‑bid meetings; perform project site visits to determine scope of work and estimate requirements.
- Prepare quantity take‑offs; solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers; prepare rough project schedules.
- Submit bid documents and pricing forms in Heavy Bid software.
- Track and manage client document changes and work orders to keep the project within budget.
- Recommend ways to make the job more cost‑effective.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with Senior Management to assess the profile risks of each project.
Required
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
- Prior experience managing, estimating, or engineering on public and private construction projects.
- Leadership, effective communication, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to estimate multiple projects with proven time‑management skills.
- Strong work ethic to complete tasks accurately and on time.
- Solid attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
- Experience reading and analyzing Department of Transportation drawings.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
- Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating and Bluebeam Software preferred.
