About Newton Stewart Initiative
Newton Stewart Initiative (NSI) is a community development organisation delivering projects and services that improve the lives of people in Newton Stewart and the surrounding area. With a growing programme of activities and a newly established office in the Old Town Hall Building on Victoria Street, NSI is seeking an enthusiastic Admin Assistant to support day‑to‑day operations.
Role OverviewThe Admin Assistant will provide essential administrative and organisational support to ensure the smooth running of NSI’s office and community projects. This role is ideal for a young person looking to develop workplace skills and gain experience in a friendly, community‑focused environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide general administrative support, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and greeting visitors.
- Maintain digital and paper filing systems and ensure records are kept up to date.
- Assist with data entry, document preparation, and basic report generation.
- Support staff with scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and organising events.
- Help manage social media updates or website content (training provided if needed).
- Monitor and order office supplies.
- Assist with general office organisation and upkeep.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties that support the work of the Initiative.
- Aged 16–25 (funding requirement).
- Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
- Basic organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.
- Take pride in your work.
- Some previous experience in an office or administrative role.
- Basic IT skills, including familiarity with email, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), or Google Workspace.
- Experience using social media or website tools (not essential).

- Internal reviews will be held every three months as part of your personal development plan.
