About the role – Academic mentor
I am working with this mainstream secondary school who are looking for an Academic Mentor to join them as soon as possible. As an Academic mentor, you will be required to support the classroom teacher with the classroom duties, provide one to one support with students and small group intervention in the build up to the examination period. The successful Academic mentor must have a positive and confident approach with strong subject knowledge with a personality that will inspire students, encouraging them to achieve their highest potential.

This oversubscribed, good mainstream secondary school based in the heart of Newham cater to students between the ages 11 and 16 with a SLCN and ASD unit in place to support students with SEN needs. The school have a reputation for looking after staff where a number of schemes in place to support a better work life balance, the school support each member of staff with a lower than average teaching loads where each teacher is treated as a specialist therefore isn’t required to teach cover lessons outside of their subject specialisms.
Each teacher is given efficient time to do their job properly including co-planning sessions throughout the week to make planning and marking more time efficient allowing teacher to focus on other aspects on teaching and academic.
