Invision are representing a leading specialist engineering and construction contractor delivering complex infrastructure and building projects across London and the South East.
Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our team based in Stratford, London.
The Role
As a Temporary Works Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of safe and efficient temporary works solutions across a range of major construction and infrastructure projects.
You will work closely with project teams, site management, and external consultants to ensure all temporary works are compliant, cost-effective, and delivered to programme.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and check temporary works including:
* Propping and shoring systems
* Formwork and falsework
* Excavation support and enabling works
* Crane bases and working platforms
* Access scaffolding interfaces
* Produce design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications
* Ensure compliance with BS5975 and relevant industry standards
* Liaise with site teams to ensure safe implementation of designs
* Attend site inspections and provide technical support
* Assist the Temporary Works Coordinator where required
* Review and manage third-party temporary works designs
Requirements
* Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Chartered or working towards Chartership (ICE or IStruct
E preferred)
* Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in temporary works design
* Strong understanding of UK construction standards and CDM regulations
* Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., Tekla Tedds, AutoCAD, etc.)
* Excellent communication and coordination skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Desirable
* Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or RC frame projects
* Experience in contractor-led design environments
* Knowledge of demolition or enabling works engineering
