💰 Pay: £21.91 per hour PAYE / £28.57 per hour Umbrella

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Duty Manager to provide operational leadership for our Refuse and Recycling Collections Service. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in ensuring efficient waste and recycling operations across Newham.

You will be responsible for deploying resources, managing day-to-day operational issues, and leading a large team of frontline staff.

Your role will ensure compliance with Council policies, health and safety standards, and performance targets.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a large team of frontline staff, ensuring compliance with disciplinary, capability, and sickness procedures.
Oversee daily operations of waste and recycling services, including staff development and performance appraisals.
Deploy resources effectively to maximise productivity and ensure compliance with road transport legislation.
Monitor service performance against financial and productivity targets.
Ensure health and safety compliance, conduct risk assessments, and manage accident/incident investigations.
Plan and organise waste and recycling routes for maximum efficiency.
Respond to complaints and implement corrective measures.
Deputise for the Waste and Recycling Collections Manager when required.

What We're Looking For

Supervisory experience in a public or private sector service environment.
Strong understanding of frontline service delivery.
Proven track record of innovation and achieving results in a performance-driven environment.
Ability to build strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Experience working within a unionised environment.
