Overview
Role Summary The Diagnostic Engineer is a workshop-based, specialist role focused on the maintenance, update, testing and repair of current Production and Engineering vehicles. The Diagnostic Engineer operates with limited supervision, supporting non-routine diagnostic and repair activities while ensuring vehicles are updated to the latest software packs for SOTA and integration testing. This role requires applying advanced operational knowledge to fault detection, rectification, validation and technical feedback, contributing directly to subsystem development and engineering improvement.

Rate: £21.88 - £23.68 per hour UMBRELLA PAYE
Location: Gaydon
Contract: Inside IR35
Responsibilities- Diagnostic and repair of mechanical vehicle systems including engine and chassis systems
- Software pack deployment, updates and validation testing
- Service, diagnostic and repair operations on current Production and Engineering vehicles
- Fault detection, root cause analysis and issue validation across electrical and mechanical systems
- Preparation, fitment and removal of test components
- Assembly, replacement and modification of vehicle systems and components
- Manufacture and modification of electrical harnesses
- Use of computer-based diagnostic equipment
- Reading and interpretation of engineering drawings
- Liaison with engineering teams to support fault resolution and subsystem development
- Engineering one-off solutions to overcome technical issues
- Advanced experience in vehicle diagnostics, repair and maintenance within a workshop environment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
- Experience performing software updates and validation testing
- Ability to diagnose, trace, rectify and validate complex non-routine faults
- Experience working with computer diagnostic tools
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience fitting harnesses and test components
- Capability to work under limited supervision and support daily operational activities
- Experience training, delegating or reviewing work of junior team members
- Proven ability to deliver technical feedback to engineering teams as a Diagnostic Engineer
