As Director of Current Supplier Quality, you'll report directly to the Quality Director and lead a large, highly skilled team responsible for managing supplier quality performance across our current vehicle portfolio. This is a role with significant visibility and influence, sitting at the centre of manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, supply chain and quality operations.
Responsibilities- Lead supplier quality performance across the current vehicle portfolio and manage a large, multi-disciplinary team.
- Act as the first line of defence when supplier quality issues arise, protecting production, minimising disruption and driving permanent corrective actions.
- Oversee supplier investigations, root cause analysis, cost recovery, warranty concerns, supplier development, and long-term quality improvement.
- Shape supplier strategy using performance data and operational insight to support sourcing decisions and supplier selection.
- Participate in executive sourcing discussions to determine which suppliers are best positioned to support future programs.
- Build capability and drive continuous improvement across the global supplier base; lead supplier development and manage resourcing where supplier risk exists.
- Ensure quality, cost and delivery objectives remain aligned across the business.
- Collaborate with manufacturing operations to support production reviews and rapidly contain and resolve on-line issues; capture lessons learned for future vehicle programs and feed them back into design reviews, engineering standards, and vehicle development activities.
- Influence senior stakeholders, present at executive level, and balance quality, customer experience, operational performance, and commercial impact in decision making.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, engineering teams, production operations, and executive leadership; lead through challenge and change with a practical approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Travel as needed within the UK and internationally to support investigations, supplier development activities and manufacturing operations.
- An experienced automotive leader with a proven track record of managing large, multi-disciplinary teams in complex manufacturing environments.
- Comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and presenting to executive audiences.
- Ability to make decisions that balance quality, customer experience, operational performance and commercial impact.
- Strong relationship-building skills across suppliers, engineering, production operations, and leadership teams.
- Practical problem solver with a passion for continuous improvement and the credibility to lead through challenge and change.
- Willingness to travel regionally and internationally as required to support supplier development and manufacturing operations.
This is a Fixed Term Contract up to 18 months with a requirement to be onsite 5 days a week.
