Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Gaydon

At Aston Martin, we don’t just build cars — we create icons. Our Cost Engineering team plays a critical role in delivering profitable, world-class vehicles by setting and achieving material and investment cost targets, shaping engineering decisions through robust “should cost” insight.

We’re looking for a Lead Cost Engineer to bring deep manufacturing expertise and commercial acumen to influence product design, supplier engagement and cost performance across our programmes.

The Opportunity

You will lead the development of detailed “should cost” models, using benchmarking, tear-down analysis and engineering insight to challenge assumptions and drive cost-effective solutions. Working cross-functionally with Engineering and Procurement, you’ll help ensure technical decisions support both performance and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain accurate “should cost” models for components and tooling
  • Lead benchmarking and tear-down activities to inform cost positioning

Partner with Engineering to optimise designs for cost-effective manufacture
  • Analyse gaps between supplier quotations and target costs
  • Support Procurement in technical supplier discussions
  • Ensure cost data integrity throughout product development lifecycle
About You

You’ll bring proven Cost Engineering experience, underpinned by a strong background in manufacturing or quality engineering. You understand how components are made — from process capability to finishing — and can translate this into robust cost insight.

  • Strong manufacturing and process knowledge across components and systems
  • Confident interpreting technical drawings and CAD data (e.g. Teamcenter/VIS Mockup)
  • Solid understanding of vehicle architecture
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Commercial awareness with strong financial acumen
  • Collaborative mindset with the curiosity to learn and challenge
Why Aston Martin

This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in a business where engineering excellence and craftsmanship are paramount. You’ll shape the cost strategy of cutting-edge vehicles, working with passionate teams to deliver sustainable, profitable growth.
