The Management Accountant plays a key role in strengthening this capability - working closely with the Finance Manager to ensure financial reporting, analysis and control are robust, forward‑looking and aligned with business priorities.
Role PurposeThe Management Accountant supports the Finance Manager in delivering accurate management accounts, insightful financial analysis and disciplined budgeting processes across the Group.
This is a hands‑on role that blends technical accounting competence with commercial awareness. The position ensures the integrity of financial data while helping operational leaders understand cost drivers, performance trends and margin opportunities.
The role contributes to building a finance function that not only reports performance but actively enables sustainable growth.
Scope of ResponsibilityWorking alongside the Finance Manager, the Management Accountant supports the full management accounting cycle, including preparation of monthly management accounts, variance analysis and performance reporting.
The role contributes to the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts, working with departmental leads to ensure financial plans reflect operational delivery requirements. Variances are analysed thoroughly, with clear and practical recommendations for corrective action.
Cost monitoring and margin analysis across projects, production and service areas form a core part of the position. The Management Accountant identifies trends, risks and efficiencies, supporting pricing decisions, capital investment proposals and commercial modelling.
The role supports the strengthening of financial controls, reporting processes and system efficiencies as the organisation continues to scale. Compliance with accounting standards and internal governance requirements is maintained at all times.
Working ApproachThe Management Accountant operates as a collaborative partner within the finance function and across the wider business.
Financial information is translated into clear, accessible insight for non‑financial stakeholders. The role balances analytical rigour with pragmatism, identifying risks early and proposing commercially sensible solutions.
Strong Excel and financial modelling capability are essential, alongside experience working with financial systems (knowledge of Quick Books is advantageous).
Accuracy, discretion and professional integrity are fundamental to the role.
Leadership and InfluenceAlthough not a senior leadership role, the Management Accountant exerts meaningful influence by building trusted relationships across departments.
Through clarity of reporting and constructive challenge, the role supports the Finance Manager in embedding financial accountability and improving commercial understanding throughout the business.
Confidence in communicating complex financial concepts to operational and technical teams is key.
What good looks likeManagement accounts are accurate, timely and trusted. Budgets and forecasts are aligned to operational delivery plans. Variances are identified early and addressed proactively.
