We are looking for a highly motivated person, preferably with experience in Environmental Health and in particular Environmental Protection and Waste Enforcement. The role will sit with our Environmental Protection Team primarily working on waste enforcement matters but it may cover a wide range of Environmental health functions.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and highly motivated with the drive to get the best out of themselves and others. You will be an excellent communicator and be able to deal effectively with difficult and complex situations to achieve positive outcomes. You will be a team player and have the ability to forge good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
KeyAccountabilities and Responsibilities
- Responding to complaints/enquiries relating to general environmental health, flytipping and waste, noise, air, land, and water pollution, drainage, and public health burials.
- Support the completion of any environmental health monitoring and inspection programmes and follow up action as necessary.
- Assist the Environmental and Operational Services Officers and the Council’s contractors with regard to gathering evidence, photographs and witness statements for waste investigations
- Serve enforcement notices and Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) for waste-and other related offences, carry out PACE interviews, prepare case files and attend court, as needed, to provide evidence during prosecution proceedings.
Undertake routine investigation work and follow up on actions as appropriate, including collection of evidence, letter writing, service of notices, and giving evidence in Court in accordance with local agreed policies and procedures. The officer will be authorised in accordance with the services policy according to post, experience and qualification.
