Nevada Nano is a rapidly growing startup transforming the oil and gas industry through real-time operational visibility, analytics, and intelligent automation. Our IIoT SaaS platform is live and in production, serving energy companies with scalable, cloud-connected monitoring and control capabilities across upstream and midstream operations. We are now entering our next phase of growth — scaling the platform, expanding feature sets, and onboarding enterprise customers — and we are looking for a Director, Platform Software Architect, to help us evolve our technology foundation to support that journey.
Position OverviewAs a Software Architect, you will play a critical leadership role in shaping the future of our IIoT platform. You will guide architectural decisions across the stack, ensuring performance, scalability, security, and reliability as we scale number of connected devices and multi-region deployments. This role requires deep technical expertise in cloud architecture, IIoT systems, and software design best practices. You will work closely with engineering, product, and Dev Ops teams to refine our architecture, accelerate development velocity, and maintain technical excellence as we grow.
Key Responsibilities- Architectural Leadership – Own the evolution of the platform’s architecture to support scale, performance, and availability.
- Design modular, cloud-native microservices, data pipelines, and APIs.
- Champion architectural standards, tech debt management, and scalability best practices.
- Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and frameworks.
- Collaborate with product and engineering leads to translate business goals into product roadmaps and architectural designs.
- Guide the team in defining and improving the software development life cycle (SDLC). Champion best practices in code quality, CI/CD pipelines, testing, and documentation.
- Establish and maintain architectural governance processes, including design reviews and code audits.
- Define, implement, and continuously improve engineering workflows (e.g., CI/CD, code review, branching strategies, testing practices). Actively participate in Agile processes (sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.).
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and development teams to ensure architecture aligns with Agile delivery goals.
- Support continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), and Dev Ops practices.
- Establish and enforce best practices in software development, documentation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Define architectural principles and software development standards to ensure consistency and quality across teams.
- Drive technical governance and compliance with security, performance, and scalability requirements.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks in data ingestion, processing, and delivery pipelines. Design for high‑availability and low-latency.
- Guide multi-tenant architecture enhancements to support enterprise onboarding and secure data isolation.
- Design integrations with LDAR, CMMS and other industry systems, and with customers’ message buses like Kafka, MQTT, etc.
- Collaborate with edge engineers to ensure resilient, secure edge‑to‑cloud and cloud‑to‑edge communication in the field.
- Enforce security practices across the platform, including encryption, authentication, and access controls.
- Contribute to compliance and operational resilience (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, etc.).
- Work cross‑functionally with engineering, Dev Ops, and product teams to align technical design with product goals.
- Work with Sales and Product management to provide customer-focused insights on UI and user experience.
- Communicate architectural decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor developers and contribute to architectural reviews and high‑impact technical decisions.
