Description

Micro Laser Welder Position Summary

The Micro Laser Welder is responsible for performing precision laser welding operations on small, intricate components using Gesswein-Sisma laser welding equipment. This role requires excellent attention to detail, steady hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work under magnification to achieve high-quality welds that meet engineering and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Gesswein-Sisma micro laser welding systems to weld small, delicate, or high-precision metal components.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings to understand welding requirements.
  • Set up, adjust, and maintain laser parameters (e.g., power, frequency, pulse duration, spot size) to achieve optimal weld quality.
  • Work under a microscope or magnification tools to perform micro-level welds with accuracy.
  • Inspect finished welds using visual inspection, microscopes, and measuring tools to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and cleaning in accordance with manufacturer and facility standards.
  • Document work performed, including welding parameters, rework, and inspection results.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve welding issues or improve processes.
  • Follow all safety procedures related to laser operation, PPE, ventilation, and material handling.
  • Perform TIG & MIG welding, as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of experience in welding, preferably with micro welding equipment.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to work under magnification.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and welding requirements.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on producing consistent, high‑quality work.
  • Basic computer skills for equipment operation and documentation.
  • Familiarity with welding small components made from stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, or specialty alloys.
