CRNA; Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

• Clinical Care
  • The CRNA implements accurate, safe, patient‑centric anesthetic care.
• Professional Skill
  • Understand physiological implications and anesthetic considerations of surgical procedures, continuously monitor vital signs, capnography, and pulse oximetry during anesthesia according to ASA guidelines.
• Information Management
  • Ensure appropriate documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements and protect information from unauthorized access, modification, or disclosure.

  • Demonstrate a high standard of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care.

Education

• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist;
  Graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
• Current State of Connecticut Nursing License, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the State of Connecticut.

Experience

• Preferred clinical experience as a CRNA within a specialty/service line; not required.
• APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff and credentialed through the medical staff process, with evidence of current competence via reference letters.

Licensure

• AANA Certification, State of CT RN and APRN license, ACLS, DEA registration, and State of CT controlled substance registration.

Special Skills

• Sharp concentration, focus, ability to stay calm under stress, clear communication with surgeons and the support team, and a calm, reassuring manner to inspire trust.

Physical Demand

• Ability to observe, communicate effectively, stand for long periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and navigate patient care environments; requires adequate vision, hearing, and coordination.
