Job Description & How to Apply Below
Role Overview
As a Welder II at ALACRIANT, INC., you will produce high‑quality weldments in accordance with job prints, work instructions, and company weld procedures. You will work with ferrous and non‑ferrous materials, support multiple welding processes (MIG, TIG, etc.), and ensure welds meet visual and structural quality standards. You will also mentor less experienced welders to maintain quality and throughput goals.
Key Responsibilities- Perform MIG, TIG, and/or FCAW welding on structural and sheet metal assemblies per prints, work instructions, and WPS.
- Read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and fabrication drawings to identify weld type, size, length, location, and spacing.
- Use weld gauges, tape measures, and other tools to verify weld size, spacing, and adherence to work instructions.
- Position, align, fit, tack and weld parts using fixtures, jigs, and Bluco setups (or equivalent) to ensure dimensionally accurate assemblies.
- Perform visual inspection of welds and tacks, remove excessive spatter, and verify weld appearance and soundness.
- Work in qualified positions (flat, horizontal, possibly vertical/overhead as required) depending on job specifications.
- Mentor and assist entry‑level welders by helping with setup, reviewing their work, providing feedback, and ensuring first‑time quality.
- Maintain housekeeping of work area and perform scheduled preventive maintenance on welding equipment as required.
- Follow all facility safety and welding safety standards; participate in required training programs.
- Other duties as assigned by management to support production and quality goals.
- Welding certification/training in defect & discontinuity recognition; demonstrate knowledge of weld discontinuities and ability to identify them.
- Proven experience (minimum “Welder II” level) in MIG (GMAW) fillet welds and TIG (GTAW) fillet welds including dissimilar materials (ferrous and non‑ferrous) and multiple positions.
- Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and prints.
- Proficient use of measuring tools (tape measure, weld gauges, calipers) and ability to verify weld size/spacing.
- Ability to mentor less experienced welders and uphold quality standards.
- Familiarity with fixtures, jigs, Bluco systems or similar for repeatable weld setups.
- Commitment to a “zero defects” mindset: produce visually and structurally sound welds the first time.
- Awareness of ISO 9001 & 14001 standards (or willingness to train) and ability to follow quality/environmental procedures.
- Good physical condition: able to bend, lift (up to ~50 lbs), stand for long periods, twist/bend, etc.
- Must pass required visual acuity test (e.g., Jaeger J‑2 near vision or equivalent) and all relevant shop safety/training requirements.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Welding Trade School diploma or certificate preferred.
- Minimum 3 years’ welding experience in a production/fabrication environment; experience in a custom metal‑fabrication setting strongly preferred.
- Completed or willing to complete ISO 9001 & 14001 awareness training, Emergency Response Plan training, and any company‑specific PWI requirements.
- Valid work authorization.
- Ability to work [insert shift details: e.g., day shift, 2nd shift, overtime as needed].
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- The job requires frequent bending, twisting, lifting; standing for prolonged periods is typical.
- Must meet annual near‑vision acuity standard (Jaeger J‑2 or equivalent) for visual inspection tasks.
