The position is responsible for removing burrs, sharp edges, slag, and other imperfections from fabricated metal parts to ensure they meet required specifications and finish standards. This role plays a critical part in producing safe, high-quality components for customers in industries such as industrial equipment, construction, automotive, and custom fabrication. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment.

• Perform de-parting operations using grinders, sanders, hand tools, and deburring machines.
• Inspect raw and finished parts to identify burrs, rough edges, and surface defects.
• Interpret work orders, blueprints, and shop travelers to confirm material, tolerances, and finishing requirements.
• Occasionally use measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify part accuracy.
• Ensure all edges, holes, and cut features are properly finished according to customer specifications.
• Operate machinery such as:
  • Angle grinders, orbital sanders, dynafiles
  • Manual or automated deburring tools
• Assist with part handling, staging, and packaging to avoid damage post-finishing.
• Maintain clean and organized work area; follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Collaborate with laser operators, machinists, welders, and quality inspectors to resolve finishing issues.
• Document completed work and report deviations or nonconforming materials.

• Previous experience in metal fabrication, machine shop, or similar industrial environment preferred.
• Bonus ability to read and understand basic mechanical drawings.
• Proficiency with hand tools and finishing equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
• Strong safety awareness.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
