Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join a metal fabrication company in Strongsville, Ohio on a Contract basis. This fully onsite role supports daily accounting operations by handling invoice activity, maintaining accurate financial records, and helping ensure vendors are paid correctly and on time. The position also works closely with internal teams to resolve discrepancies, manage transaction details, and contribute to reliable month-end reporting.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices for completeness, accuracy, and proper approval before entering them for payment.

- Perform three-way matching by comparing purchase orders, receipts, and vendor invoices to confirm valid payable transactions.

- Enter high volumes of financial data with accuracy while maintaining organized records within the accounting system.

- Process payments in a timely manner and help support accurate reporting of outstanding obligations.

- Investigate billing differences and communicate issues to the appropriate internal contacts to support prompt resolution.

- Maintain accounting records in Macola and assist with keeping transaction details current and properly documented.

- Support daily cash-related and reconciliation activities to help ensure account balances are accurate.

- Contribute to month-end close tasks by verifying postings, clearing exceptions, and assisting with required reporting.

- Provide occasional front office or administrative coverage when needed and assist the broader finance team with special projects. Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent required.

- At least 3 years of accounting experience, with relevant exposure to accounts payable functions.

- Hands-on experience with three-way matching is required.

- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Working knowledge of basic accounting, bookkeeping, and financial recordkeeping practices.

- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Word and Outlook.

- Experience using Macola is preferred; exposure to systems such as Oracle, Quick Books, or SAP is helpful.

- Ability to work fully onsite in Strongsville, Ohio during standard business hours.
