Electromechanical Systems Application Engineer - Electric Drives

This position is within our systems engineering department, focusing on mobile equipment’s electronic control and electrical mechanical power transmission systems. Projects range from component level to fully integrated system design and sub-system interaction.

• Design and select electromechanical systems and components
• Size electric motors for propulsion, hydraulic pumps, steering, and other functions
• Select mobile inverters and develop application software using vendor platforms
• Design systems, select hardware, and develop software using graphical platforms, vendor-specific tools, C/C++
• Develop electrical schematics in AutoCAD
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding electrical or electronic control systems via email, phone, or face-to-face
• Collaborate with applications engineers, sales, customer service, and technicians
• Share product knowledge within the team
• Communicate with sales team to develop customer-specific hydraulic or electronic control solutions
• Travel to customer sites for system start-up, troubleshooting, and training

B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related technology

• Teamwork and multitasking skills
• Knowledge of CAN protocols (CANopen, J1939)
• System FMEA analysis
• Technical aptitude and hands-on skills
• Understanding of DC electrical symbols and control methods
• Electric motor types and control methods
• Battery technologies (Lead Acid, AGM, Lithium)
• DC wiring skills
• Closed-loop feedback systems (PI/PID control)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Programming experience (C, C++, PLC, Java, XML, HTML)
• Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar platforms
