Pay Rate: £90.15 - £109.23 per day
Hours:
Full-Time – 8:30am to 3:30pm
Smart Education is currently recruiting a compassionate and confident SEN Teaching Assistant to join an independent specialist school in Gloucester for autistic young people aged 7–16. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a supportive and inclusive environment, helping pupils achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
About the Role:
As an teaching assistant, you will support the smooth running of classes for the class teacher and ensure students remain engaged and focused. You will work closely with the class teacher and support staff to maintain a positive, structured learning environment for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Your role will include:
Supervising classes across a range of subjects
Providing support to pupils with social, communication, and sensory needs
Managing behaviour effectively and promoting positive learning experiences
Ensuring lessons run smoothly and pupils are supported throughout the school day

Requirements:
Experience working with pupils with autism or within a SEND setting
Strong behaviour management and communication skills
Ability to follow lesson plans and support individual learning needs
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Flexibility and confidence to supervise classes independently
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
