We are currently looking to recruit a lecturer to teach on our new level 1 digital skills course within the vocational department at SGS Stroud. The level 1 pathway is set up for those learners who have not yet secured a grade 4 in science due to a variety of reasons such as being home schooled, hospital educated or just not getting the needed grades to start further education at level 2 or 3, and therefore they come to college with the aspiration progressing onto further courses in the digital realm at level 2 and above.
At the college, the subject sits within our Vocational department and the successful candidate will be supported by a fantastic team who have a track record of achieving consistently outstanding results where students regularly make progress beyond their expected level.
The post holder should have a good knowledge of digital skills and/or ICT and be comfortable operating in our new look digital suites and conventional classrooms. Experience in further education is not essential.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- To undertake all forms of pedagogic work which include but are not limited to classroom teaching, tutorial work, associated outreach duties, open and distance learning courses and student placements.
- To ensure the associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking is undertaken.
- To undertake an annual teaching workload of contact hours for category ‘A’ duties of 828 maximum to 761 minimum (pro rata for part-time) as detailed in the College workload agreement.
- To conduct curriculum development work including identification of consumer requirements, planning, development and evaluation of courses and course materials.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent or have substantial relevant subject experience.
- PGCE or qualified teacher status
- Possess excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Working within a HE/FE environment
