Job Purpose
Working within the Manufacturing Engineering department in Product Lines. PHINIA offers placements across a range of engineering, manufacturing and support departments for students looking to pursue a career in engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support for Product and Manufacturing Engineering departments through practical and theoretical support of engineering processes and systems including hydraulics, manufacturing processes, inspection, and data analysis.
- Develop test equipment and instrumentation and run performance test procedures.
- Improve and modify test rigs.
- Increase manufacturing cycle up‑times.
- Support established assembly and test processes.
- Lead cost‑reduction exercises.
- Support the manufacturing line.
- Inspect components from warranty, customer testing, or internal testing.
- Interpret test data, synthesize results, and report findings.
- Problem‑solve through a methodical approach and innovative techniques.
- Ensure adherence to quality control standards and process documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement.
- Ensure a safe working environment in full compliance with relevant legislation.
- Apply AI technologies to improve processes.
- Minimum one year of a degree‑level qualification (or equivalent diploma/experience) in engineering (industrial, automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, mechanical, IT/software/electronic, mechatronic).
- Self‑motivated with a strong, flexible attitude toward work; attention to detail; solid understanding of engineering fundamentals; analytical thinker with initiative.
- Strong IT and software experience in Microsoft Office; advantage if experienced with MATLAB or VBA.
- Genuine interest and enjoyment in engineering and resolving technical problems.
- Practical experience with mechanical systems preferred.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with ability to work in a close‑knit team.
- Tenacious and enthusiastic about implementing new ideas and changes.
- Willingness to train and develop skills.
- Strong and flexible attitude toward work.
- Ability to stay calm in high‑stress situations.
- Effective communication at all levels.
- Team‑oriented.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Prioritise and organise own workload.
