Community Healthcare Assistant

This is a part-time post for 22.5 hours per week. An exciting opportunity to work as part of the Stroud Locality Integrated Community Team (ICT) within the Community Nursing Service, delivering a range of clinical care in patients' homes.

Main duties of the job

Work as part of a team requiring a good general standard of education, at least two years’ experience in a relevant health or social care setting, NVQ level 3 or equivalent, and proven ability to work efficiently and effectively. Good written and oral communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work without direct supervision. Additional training will be provided within a work‑based competency framework.

Shifts include early and late shifts over a 3‑day pattern across seven days, weekends and bank holidays. A valid UK driving licence is essential.

Job responsibilities

Provide safe and compassionate care in line with the Code of Conduct for Health Care Assistants/Support Workers, participate in reflective practice, meet the Care Certificate standards, and may develop further through Student Nursing Associate training.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Level 1/GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent Adult Literacy and Numeracy)
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English, Mathematics and a Science or Health and Social Care subject
  • NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care or NHS Care certificate
Experience
  • Experience of direct adult patient care in a health/social care setting
  • Evidence of team‑working abilities
  • Proven ability to work unsupervised
  • Relevant clinical competencies e.g. venepuncture, catheter care, personal care
