The Nelson Trust is a charity dedicated to supporting people affected by addiction and trauma to build safer, more stable futures. Within our residential women’s service in Stroud, we offer trauma‑informed care in a structured, supportive environment where recovery can begin and lives can be rebuilt.

Responsibilities
  • Being a consistent and reassuring presence, helping clients feel safe and supported throughout the day.
  • Encouraging engagement in weekend activities, groups and recovery‑focused work.
  • Supporting everyday needs, from wellbeing to practical tasks such as medication and appointments.
  • Facilitating check‑ins, house meetings and reflective work to maintain connection to recovery.
  • Responding calmly to challenges, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all clients.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Ability to work a fixed weekend rota (8am‑4:30pm), providing consistency when clients need it most.
  • A full driving licence and willingness to transport clients when required.
  • The ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
  • Understanding of addiction, trauma or working with people experiencing adversity.
  • A calm, steady approach, with the confidence to respond thoughtfully to challenges.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop.

  • A calm, approachable and reliable presence during weekends.
  • A non‑judgemental outlook and belief in their ability to recover.
Benefits and Support
  • Salary: £25,000 – £26,500 (pro‑rata depending on experience).
  • Hours:

    16 per week (8am‑4:30pm, alternate weekends).
