Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired offers a number of services. In our COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER PROGRAM, volunteers work one-to-one with visually impaired adults in their community, assisting with reading or shopping. In each of our 35 peer‑led SUPPORT GROUPS, individuals gather to share challenges and resources. Elders with low vision can work with one of our VISION REHABILITATION SPECIALISTS to learn strategies for living with limited or no vision.
Special focus on reading and writing, magnification, lighting, diabetes management, home safety and daily activities.
MABVI's greatest need currently is for volunteers in the Boston region, and willingness to travel anywhere in the City of Boston. MABVI is appreciative of volunteer's willingness to travel a minimum of 10‑15 miles.
This MABVI participant is looking for a volunteer to accompany them once a week in the Sturbridge area for outings such as going to the local Walgreens or the bank and taking walks. A car is needed for this volunteer opportunity. The MABVI participant has a cat. The MABVI participant prefers that the volunteer is up-to-date with their COVID vaccinations. The MABVI participant is available weekday mornings.

This opportunity is flexible based on your match's needs. Volunteers typically devote 1‑2 hours a week or every other week.
