As a Grooming Salon Leader at Petco, you will lead salon operations and salon team members, while delivering expert grooming services to our valued customers' pets. • Oversee day-to-day operations of the grooming salon, manage workflows, optimize scheduling and capacity, manage inventory, and implement staffing plans
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of grooming staff; provide coaching, feedback, training, and performance evaluations; foster a positive, collaborative work environment
• Create and manage efficient grooming schedules, maximize productivity, and ensure coverage during peak hours
• Monitor salon performance metrics (revenue, customer satisfaction, partner productivity); analyze data and develop action plans

• Collaborate with store management to achieve sales targets and salon objectives; drive growth and profitability
• Interact professionally with pet parents, provide exceptional service, address inquiries, offer grooming recommendations, and resolve issues
• Stay abreast of grooming industry trends to enhance skills and team capabilities
• Independently perform professional grooming services following pet parent instructions and breed standards
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments; ensure safety and comfort of pets
• Assess individual pet needs (coat, type, skin conditions, temperament); educate pet parents on grooming maintenance and home care
• Ensure well-being and safety of every animal; report concerns promptly
• Perform quality checks to maintain a clean and safe grooming area; disinfect tools and equipment; assist with cleaning and maintenance per policies
• Apply knowledge of Petco grooming policies and guidelines to ensure safety, quality, and consistency

• 2+ years of professional grooming experience and/or completion of a technical grooming program
• Strong leadership skills; 1-2 years of salon management experience preferred
• High-school diploma or GED preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Expert knowledge of dog breeds, grooming requirements, health issues, and behaviors
• Expert-level proficiency in breed-specific cuts and grooming standards
• Genuine passion for animals and a desire to continue a career in grooming

• Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities; able to handle moderately complex situations with guidance as needed
• Results-driven with focus on salon productivity and growth
• Attention to detail and high grooming standards
• Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy
• Full-time availability (minimum 35 hours/week), including weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled

The majority of duties are indoors in the grooming salon. Expect bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 pounds, and standing for long periods. Some tasks may require heights with ladders or other tools. Work involves direct contact with pet parents and dogs. The environment can be noisy and wet.
