This position is responsible for the efficient operation of FBS through system and process development, definition, and coordination at our vast, 63-acre facility. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in several fab shops, as well as on the waterfront. The successful candidate will support the 1,000+ working men and women on our waterfront by supporting the core business functions of strategic integration, continuous improvement, production engineering and design, production planning and manufacturing.
DetailedDescription
- Development of shipyard strategic plans to ensure the achievement of business objectives.
- Support the development and maintenance of key dates and milestones for each project.
- Development of integrated business operating plans and schedules.
- Study and implementation of Capex investment (with ROI analysis).
- Develop of IMS activity and WBS structure in coordination with the PP&C Department.
- Development of facility investment plans in coordination with the Facilities Department.
- Identify, evaluate, develop, and report on Lean Manufacturing, Process Improvement, and SS initiatives.
- Definition of project specific Build Strategy for Structure and Outfitting, Shipbuilding Units and Zones, and Standard Production Cycle Plan.
- Support and coordinate implementation of the Build Strategies, Product Oriented Drawings, and Palletization with the Engineering Department.
- Identify and conduct research and development of processes and technology for improved production.
- Define the Workstation Yard Map and Workstation Plan, and perform a significant re-plan if needed.
- Identify, elicit, evaluate, develop and manage Man Tech and NSRP projects.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop "Micro-Methods" of production to improve efficiency.
- Identify and implement an efficient manufacturing processes and technology through industrial engineering.
- Develop plans for manufacturing support activities (ship ventilation plans, module move and transport, barges, platforms, etc.)
- Design of Jigs and fixtures for construction and unit transport.
- Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.
- Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Naval Architecture
- At least 5 years of related work experience in the field of production engineering or (preferably) shipbuilding and/or ship design
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills
- Must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor
- Must have ability to maintain confidentiality
- Experience with AutoCAD systems
