Position: EMT - Basic

Job Requirements
  • Administers emergency medical care in accordance with the EMT Scope of Practice and department protocols.
  • Responds to emergency calls, evaluates patient condition, and provides life‑sustaining treatment on‑site and during transport.
  • Safely operates emergency vehicles and ensures that all related medical and communications equipment is functional and ready for use.
  • Maintains clean and stocked ambulances, performing routine checks and coordinating minor maintenance or supply restocking needs.
  • Accurately completes required documentation, including patient care reports, charge forms, Medicare paperwork, and release documentation.
  • Participates in public education and outreach programs for schools, civic organizations, and community groups.
  • Communicates promptly with supervisors regarding unusual incidents, equipment failures, or discrepancies.
  • Collaborates with fellow EMTs, medics, and supervisory staff to maintain seamless emergency response coverage through on‑call or station‑based shifts.
  • Performs general maintenance and support duties at the direction of the Director or Captains.
  • Maintains required certifications and demonstrates ongoing competency through continuing education and skills refreshers.
    • Other Experience and Qualifications

    Required

    Education & Experience:

    Valid Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license. Completion of NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 within six months of hire. Valid driver’s license.

    Preferred

    Education & Experience:

    At least one (1) year of progressive experience in a pre‑hospital emergency care environment as an EMT.
