Help Desk Technician

Salary Grade: 6

Primary Purpose

Organize, install, and support all computer systems; investigate and resolve computer software and hardware problems.

Roles & Expected Behaviors

  • Solve semi‑routine issues using problem‑solving analysis, prioritizing processes and routines.
  • Meet reasonable expectations for the current position, maintain excellent productivity and quality, and participate in team process audits.
  • Communicate clearly, courteously, effectively, honestly, and openly with team members and others.
  • Develop positive relationships, actively participate in huddles and goal setting.
Responsibilities
  • Arrive on time and remain engaged for the full assigned shift.
  • Recognize and document patterns in processes and problem solving.
  • Participate in employee reviews, including setting and achieving goals.
  • Act as primary point of contact for IT support via the OAK request system.
  • Install and configure workstations, hardware, software, peripherals, and cabling.
  • Diagnose, evaluate, and resolve issues; log all repairs accurately and timely.
  • Discuss software errors with developers and recommend program changes.
  • Attend multi‑day off‑site training sessions, weekend and evening work, and after‑hours emergency calls as required.
  • Provide basic computer usage training and company resource orientation.
  • Identify shortages of computer and network equipment and assist with replacements.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree and IT‑related certifications preferred.
  • 1–2 years of help desk experience in a Windows domain environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused to achieve goals.
  • High energy level; comfortable handling multi‑faceted projects in conjunction with daily tasks.
  • Can work well under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing technology, business environments, and company goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature, and flexible.
  • Documentation of a drug screen must be provided prior to employment.
