Lab Technician, Sampling (2nd Shift, Tues - Sat) - Sturgis, MI Plant

Abbott is a global health care leader with a broad portfolio of products. This role is located at the Sturgis, MI plant in the Abbott Nutrition division.

Overview

This position focuses on environmental monitoring and sampling for the Nutrition division, ensuring compliance with GMP and other regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out sampling of Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) requirements, including air, swab, steam, and water samples.
  • Apply Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and aseptic technique during microbiological sampling.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and maintain clear communication.
  • Prioritize tasks and complete sampling at required frequency.
  • Report directly to the Lab Supervisor/FLL with minimal supervision, ensuring compliance with GMPs, FDA, USDA, OSHA, and Abbott regulations.
  • Conduct sampling aseptically and safely per procedures.
  • Complete documentation for all samples collected and prepare tools and paperwork.
  • Perform housekeeping duties, waste disposal, and laboratory sanitation.
  • Support Abbott’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program through active participation.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • 1 year of manufacturing or laboratory experience (post‑high school courses acceptable).
  • Working knowledge of GMP operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Solid computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed, geographically diverse environment.
  • Team‑oriented and individual contributor capabilities in a fast‑paced setting.
  • Effective verbal and written communication at multiple levels.
  • Strong organizational and follow‑up skills.
  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance.

Compensation

Base pay: $15.80 – $31.60 per hour. Pay range may vary by location.
