We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Master Planner to take ownership of production planning and scheduling from start to finish. This is a critical role responsible for translating customer demand into an executable master production schedule while balancing capacity, materials, inventory, and operational priorities.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and an excellent communicator who can work independently while partnering closely with Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, and other departments. The successful candidate will have the ability to identify potential issues before they impact production, develop solutions, and confidently own projects through completion.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and execute the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on customer demand, inventory, capacity, lead times, and business priorities.
Own the planning process from initial demand through production completion and shipment.
Analyze production capacity, material availability, labor requirements, and equipment constraints to create realistic and achievable schedules.
Monitor production progress and proactively identify potential delays, shortages, capacity constraints, and schedule risks.
Partner closely with Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, and other departments to ensure alignment and timely execution.
Maintain accurate planning information and parameters within the ERP/MRP system.
Balance customer requirements with inventory objectives, production capacity, and operational efficiency.
Adjust schedules as priorities, customer requirements, material availability, or production conditions change.
Track key planning and production metrics, including schedule attainment, inventory levels, capacity utilization, and on-time delivery.
Lead planning-related projects and process improvements from initial concept through implementation and completion.
Identify opportunities to improve planning accuracy, workflow, inventory management, and overall production efficiency.
Communicate schedule changes, priorities, and potential issues clearly to leadership and cross-functional teams.
Serve as the central point of contact for production planning and scheduling activities.
6+ years of progressive experience in production planning, master scheduling, materials planning, supply chain, or a related manufacturing environment.
At least 3 years of direct Master Planner/Master Scheduler experience required.
Strong understanding of MPS, MRP, capacity planning, inventory management, and production scheduling.
Experience working within an ERP/MRP system in a manufacturing environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and drive them from start to finish.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to anticipate issues and develop proactive solutions.
Ability to build strong working relationships across Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, and leadership.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
APICS/ASCM certification is a plus.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, accountable planner who does not wait for problems to become emergencies. They are comfortable working with data, walking the production floor, communicating with multiple departments, and making decisions that keep production moving. This individual should be confident enough to own the plan, communicate expectations, identify roadblocks, and follow projects through to successful completion.
