EssentialJob Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide best‑in‑class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at Game Stop; prioritize guests over tasks and demonstrate commitment by circulating throughout the store.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Promptly and accurately process guest purchases/return transactions using the Point‑of‑Sale (POS) computer system.
- Manage guest communication via phone, ensuring professional greeting and escalation procedures.
- Promote Game Stop’s unique guest benefits such as new title reservations, trade‑in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Assist the Store Manager in training, setting expectations, and evaluating associate performance.
- Maintain store cleanliness, merchandising, inventory control, and loss prevention practices.
- Supervise staffing, payroll, and schedule compliance to meet guest service levels.
- Handle financial transactions, including cash handling, bank deposits, and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety, and ethical responsibilities.
- Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Address discrepancies, process defectives, and maintain accurate workstation logs.
- Maintain safety awareness and report injuries per company guidelines.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders.
- Adhere to all opening and closing procedures and Game Stop policies and procedures.
- Proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree, especially in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience (preferred).
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience (preferred).
- Video game knowledge preferred.

- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

- Meets associate performance expectations regarding attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace.
- Operates POS computer system.
- Basic mathematics and alphabetizing skills.
- Completes required paperwork accurately.
- Follows instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Executes financial tasks per company policy.
- Works a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; minimum 3 days per week available.
- Adapts to pressure and stressful situations creatively.
- Reliability and good judgment.
- Physical capability to stand, move, climb, lift up to 30 lbs, and perform basic motor tasks.
- Understanding of military ranks if applicable.
Full‑time store positions are eligible to participate in incentive programs, 401(k), paid time off, dental, vision, and health insurance. Positions may also be eligible for a bonus and/or other incentives.
Compensation$16.48 - $20.48 per hour
