Job Description

Riceland Foods is looking for an employee who is responsible for the safe operation of the Rice Bran Extraction Plant, movement of rice bran through the processes in the extraction plant into crude oil tanks, controlling the necessary process conditions for optimal operating conditions, taking samples when necessary and recording all pertinent information, coordination with upstream and downstream processes, some light maintenance, monitoring crude oil tanks, and be in constant communication with all pertinent personnel for optimal conditions.

The employee is responsible for extracting the rice bran collets and spent bleaching clay in a safe, sanitary, and cost-effective manner. Employee must be a team player and assist other operators when needed. Job duties also include overseeing the Defat Loaders and the RITO Truck Drivers that share the shift.

Job Duties

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Rotating 12hr shift work (will require working nights) on a 4on/4off work basis.
  • Oversee plant operations and flows within the plant for safe solvent extraction.
  • Understand and adjust levels in extraction and distillation equipment.
  • Troubleshooting problems and equipment failures when on shift.
  • Coordinating up to four (4) RITO Drivers picking up collets in Stuttgart and Jonesboro.
  • Coordinating and overseeing up to three (3) Defat Loaders ensuring they are loading product efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintaining sanitary conditions of the exterior/interior of the plant within the four (4) days on shift.
  • Communicate effectively to drivers, loaders, peers, and management your needs and/or issues occurring throughout your shift.
  • Write effective reports detailing necessary and pertinent information related to plant/process operations, sanitation and repair work orders, maintenance issues, etc...
  • Will require the understanding of process flows and the ability to learn open/closed loop systems for liquid (water, hexane, and miscella), vapor, steam, & product.
  • Ability to learn Process Safety Management requirements and other standard operating procedures for safe operation of an extraction process.
  • Work as a team member overseeing the plant while maintaining multiple responsibilities in a controlled work environment.
  • At times, an adaptive mentality will be necessary as process-interrupts occur.
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Some college education and/or degree is preferred.
  • Provide any additional certificates and/or licenses acquired through work/educational learning experiences.
Work Experience
  • One year of similar, or work-related experience
  • Plant Operations background preferred but not required
  • Experience with efficient production management systems preferred
  • Background in supervisory and leadership with (2) or more team members at one time for at least one (1) year
  • Effective ability to Troubleshoot
  • Ability to understand upstream and downstream cause & effect

  • Valid drivers license and good driving record.
  • While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands or arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds.
