Purpose of the roleThe Project Surveyor/Mine Technician is pivotal in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely completion of all technical project objectives. This role involves surveying, quality assurance, quality control and performing a wide variety of technical tasks on‑site.
Responsibilities- Ensure full understanding and compliance with company policies and comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other local regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
- Fully support and actively participate in the team safety program based on culture and innovation.
- Take adequate measures to deal with known hazards, report non‑eliminable hazards without delay to higher authority, and ensure personnel are aware of safety measures to be adopted.
- Sincerely and genuinely commit to working within the Cementation Safety Culture and compliance with all policies, procedures, and Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Provide layout and as‑built surveys for various construction activities.
- Develop construction layout prints using CAD & Deswik.
- Maintain rigorous quality control, ensuring all work meets or exceeds standards, and generate reports for all QC related activities.
- Assist with developing Inspection Test Plans (ITP) & Field Installation Work Packages (FIWP).
- Assist with project close‑out documentation as needed.
The role involves a mix of underground and office work, with exposure to extreme work conditions and potential hazards typical of mining operations. Must be capable of moderate physical activity, including lifting, carrying, and operating vehicles.
Qualifications- Experience with underground surveying of mines.
- Basic understanding of mining operations and safety regulations.
- Experience in Microsoft Office, CAD based software, and Leica survey systems.
- A valid driver’s licence is required.
- Good decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, capable of effective collaboration with miners and project leadership.
- Adaptable and resilient, able to manage stress and change in a fast‑paced setting.
- Analytical skills, capable of interpreting data to inform leadership of conclusions.
