Within this dynamic, student-centered environment, the School of Community Services has been delivering vocationally relevant and in-demand education programs since the College first opened its doors in 1967. This school offers several certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, degrees, and graduate certificate programs, and is now seeking a full-time Professor to teach in our Honours Bachelor of Applied Psychology degree program.
The successful candidate is expected to be well versed with current practices in the field of Applied Psychology and will be required to teach a variety of courses in one or more of the following areas:
Developmental Psychology;
Applied Behaviour Analysis;
Professional Standards and Practice;
Counselling Methods, Ethics; and Research Methodology.
The incumbent will engage in a variety of activities that support teaching and learning and promote student success. Responsibilities include curriculum development, lesson planning, assessing student progress and achievement, and class management. Beyond teaching duties, the candidate will establish an effective learning environment, work collaboratively with the school, advise and recruit students, and assist with program promotion and graduate placements.
These activities will also require the incumbent to develop and maintain strong industry connections and community partnerships. The candidate will have the opportunity to participate on college and school committees to advance the College’s strategic priorities.
Cambrian’s academic year consists of three semesters, and this role may be required to deliver courses during the summer months. Programs and courses are offered in‑person, online, or in a HyFlex mode of delivery that includes in‑person, virtual synchronous, or fully online asynchronous participation, and the role may involve multiple delivery modes.
Qualifications- Ph.D./Doctorate in Psychology, Behaviour Analysis, or a related field (completed or in progress). Registered Behaviour Analysts, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, or Psychological Associates will be considered with a master’s degree. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application; education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
- Currently registered and in good standing with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Candidates with provisional status (under supervision) or candidates registered outside Ontario will be considered.
- Minimum of three full-time years of experience in a clinical setting.
- Previous teaching experience, preferably at the postsecondary level.
- Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others and function effectively within a team environment.
- Ability to provide leadership and mentorship and be an effective role model in the classroom.
- Ability to utilize creative teaching approaches and current and emerging teaching and learning strategies to enhance student success.
- Ability to use various educational technologies, including in‑class media presentation systems, learning management systems, and other relevant classroom technologies.
- Ability to work with students from diverse educational, religious, and cultural backgrounds.
- Solid commitment to students and education.
- Excellent written communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer literacy and effective critical thinking and organizational skills.
