Technical Sales Specialist for Mining key focus will be in Rock Reinforcement and injection; you will be responsible for supporting sales strategy for rock reinforcement and injection products within the company. This role requires an entry level understanding of the geotechnical and mining industries, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to learn and build a strong knowledge base with key product line offering.
Responsibilities- Expand customer base and work with existing customers to promote and assist the account management team, selling the full range of Rock Reinforcement, Injection and Ground Control support products.
- Maintain and develop existing and new customers through appropriate understanding of technical requirements through early engagement, in-depth meetings and technical sessions with operators, contractors and designers.
- Distil support requirements and develop solutions in collaboration with local and global teams, and industry partners as appropriate.
- Respond proactively with a hands‑on approach, including having an onsite presence to support and lead testing and solution demonstrations.
- Involved in day‑to‑day operations – warehousing, R&D and tool maintenance.
- Create quotes and proposals and maintain accurate, updated records of active opportunities within Normet’s systems.
- Customer focused, following up on all leads promptly offering appropriate solutions.
- Collaborate within a global organization to provide input, feedback, refine and improve technical solutions.
- Coordinate and communicate the resolution of customers’ strategic technical challenges.
- Actively participate in the health, safety, environment and quality program.
- Provide training sessions for both internal teams and external customer groups.
- Conduct presentations/lunch‑and‑learn sessions to site engineers and contractors to educate about Normet’s offerings.
- Monitor and report on market and competitor activities.
- Participate in marketing campaigns to strengthen the Normet brand in this sector.
- Collaborate with other business lines on various marketing functions, including trade show participation.
- Require extensive travel in North America and occasional international travel may also be required.
- Proven ability to deliver on sales targets.
- Experience with Ground Control Products (Rock Bolts, Cables, etc.) and Injection products (Consolidation, Water Management, Fill).
- Knowledge of concrete, shotcrete and/or other cementitious materials; experience preparing bids, proposals and detailed report writing.
- Technical education such as civil engineering or mining degree (BSc/BEng etc.). College diploma or equivalent or experience in lieu will also be considered.
- Based in the Sudbury, Ontario area.
- Customer focused with an elevated level of responsiveness.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and oral and written communication skills in English (proficiency in French, Spanish or Portuguese would be an advantage).
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment, local and global.
- Flexible and versatile.
- Protect their own health and safety and avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of any other person.
- Comply with Normet safety policies, procedures, and work practices.
- Ensure contractors and visitors are informed of all necessary safety instructions and information when on Normet premises.
- Must wear the specific PPE clothing and items relevant to the task undertaken.
- Must read and understand all relevant standard operating procedures pertaining to any equipment/machinery/vehicles.
- Must promptly report all safety concerns, injuries or incidents in the workplace.
