Job Description

AECO​M is seeking an Engineering Intern to be based in Sudbury, ON
. This is a new position within the Transportation group.

Responsibilities
  • Design for highway, transit, and roadway projects including municipal roads, highways, structural and transit infrastructure.
  • Preparation of drawings, specifications, and quantity take‑off's.
  • Design of roadway/ highway infrastructure in accordance with applicable regulations, laws, standards, etc. Typically used standards include TAC, MTO and OPS standards.
  • Producing and checking a wide variety of designs, grading models, DTM surface and applicable details.
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Utilize and maintain technical databases and file structures within project files.
  • Work with tight schedules, be flexible, and contribute in a high performing design team.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must currently be in a relevant Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Must have completed three years of their bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, Micro Station, Auto Turn, InRoads/ Open Roads, Infra Works).
  • Relevant internship or professional work experience in support of transportation design.
  • Strong problem solving and decision‑making abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, Microsoft Project, and standard office software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skilled in technical writing, communicating and presenting and capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Additional Information
  • Relocation is not available for this position.
  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $22 to $30.
