The Surveyor – Open Pit supports mining, milling, and surface operations by carrying out defined survey tasks safely, accurately, and efficiently. This role contributes to a high-performing surface survey team that collaborates closely with multiple departments to ensure operational success. You should be experienced enough to perform most the below mentioned duties:
Key Responsibilities
Daily Survey Operations
Perform surface survey tasks including water levels, buried services, and earthworks.Complete pattern layouts and toe pick-ups.Conduct grade checks (dumps, dams, ramps, floors, stockpiles, etc.).Lay out no-dig zones, dump limits, and restricted areas.Data Processing & Reporting
Process and deliver accurate survey data to operational teams.Maintain up-to-date survey records for mining activities.Identify and communicate data anomalies related to infrastructure, haul roads, drill accuracy, and other monitored assets.Support accurate and timely completion of month-end survey requirements.Planning & Coordination
Plan and prioritize survey tasks to avoid operational delays.Collaborate effectively with mining, milling, and surface operations teams.Assist with additional survey-related duties as directed by the Lead Surveyor.Equipment & Quality Control
Maintain survey equipment in good working order and report any issues.Ensure high-quality survey work to prevent rework and miscommunication.Qualifications &
Experience:
Technician or Technologist Diploma in Mining or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).Minimum 2 years of survey experience; mine operations survey experience preferred.Strong understanding of surface survey techniques and best practices.Technical proficiency and strong computer skills.Experience with Pix4D, Point Studio, and Deswik considered an asset.Ability to work effectively within small teams and collaborate cross-functionally.Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and safety-focused.Additional Information:
