Overview
As a Structural Engineer with WSP’s Resources team in Sudbury, you’ll contribute to major new builds, rehabilitation programs, and infrastructure supporting Canada’s mining and industrial sectors. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary specialists, mentor emerging designers, and help elevate our growing provincial practice.
Responsibilities- Design structural systems for mining and industrial facilities that advance safety, reliability, and long‑term operational success.
- Deliver detailed engineering packages— from conceptual design through stamped IFC deliverables— that enable clients to move swiftly from planning to execution.
- Coordinate and integrate design requirements with mechanical, electrical, process, and geotechnical teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Conduct structural assessments and site investigations to guide retrofit, remediation, or rehabilitation strategies.
- Prepare accurate technical reports, calculations, and construction specifications that support regulatory compliance and client decision‑making.
- Provide design leadership and guidance to junior engineers and designers, contributing to quality reviews and continuous improvement.
- Engage directly with clients through site meetings, field reviews, and team‑oriented problem‑solving that strengthens relationships and trust.
- Support cost‑efficient, technically robust solutions that reflect WSP’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
Skills and Qualifications
- Eligible to obtain a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario with specialized experience in structural engineering for heavy industrial mining environments.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of hands‑on experience designing concrete and steel structures for Canadian industrial facilities.
- Experience in the Sudbury market.
- Proficiency in Canadian Codes and Standards.
- Proficient with structural analysis tools such as S‑Frame, STAAD.Pro, or SAP
2000. - Comfortable performing field reviews, site investigations, and structural condition assessments in active industrial settings.
- Thrives in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments and carries a mindset of innovation, curiosity, and continuous learning.
For this role, compensation ranges are as follows: AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $114,600 – $151,800; MB & ON: $109,600 – $145,300; NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $103,500 – $137,400. The final salary awarded may vary based on relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
