Join Vale as a Senior Ground Control Engineer in Sudbury, a role crucial to ensuring mine safety and stability. This onsite position offers the chance to guide mining operations from Monday to Friday.
The Mines Technical Services team is looking for a Lead Ground Control Engineer with extensive experience. You will recommend safety measures, provide technical support, and mentor team members. This position involves updating mine design and conducting risk assessments to enhance safety and performance in mining operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure geotechnical standards are met for mine excavations
• Update annual Mine Design Package with departmental inputs
• Manage Ground Control and Seismic Risk Management Programs
• Assess geo-mechanical risks in mining plans
• Lead and mentor staff to encourage performance compliance
Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree in Mining Engineering or related
• At least 10 years of relevant industry experience
• Professional Engineer designation in Ontario required
• Familiarity with seismic monitoring software
• Expertise in continuous improvement and teamwork
