Location: greater sudbury
Cambrian College seeks a Dual Use Equipment Designer as an Applied Research Technologist. This role involves designing and testing mining and defence equipment in a collaborative environment.
Supported by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, this internship plays a key role in research and development within Cambrian’s Mechanical Division. Engage with multidisciplinary teams, assist in validation testing, and help create technical documentation while driving iterative improvements based on testing feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in engineering and design of equipment
• Collect and analyze system performance metrics
• Facilitate validation of new dual-use technologies
• Liaison with clients for cohesive design efforts
• Produce SOPs and technical documentation
Requirements:
• Diploma/Degree in relevant engineering discipline
• 1+ years experience in R&D for mining and defence
• Familiar with Solid Works or similar software
• Practical experience with applied research hardware
• Excellent initiative and critical thinking abilities
Contribute to innovation in mining and defence equipment design while mentoring students at Cambrian College.
