Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Location:

Canada (any AECOM Canadian office).

Job Description:

Lead tailings dam design and serve as Engineer of Record for tailings management projects across Canada and elsewhere.
Responsibilities      Lead the technical delivery of conceptual through detailed designs of mine waste management facilities (e.g., tailings dams, filtered stacks, co-disposal facilities, waste dumps) and water management facilities (e.g., mine water retention dams, seepage collection ponds).
Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) on tailings dams or similar embankment systems.
Provide technical direction and mentorship to team members.
Perform independent technical reviews of engineering reports and designs.
Advise clients on engineering matters, including compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Participate actively in AECOM’s Technical Practice Group.
Partner with clients to develop long-term, sustainable solutions.
Qualifications     

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
8+ years of progressive experience in the tailings and mine waste sector.
Experience serving as Engineer of Record for large tailings facilities.

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
20+ years of progressive experience in tailings management, preferably within Canada.
Highly collaborative, with the ability to build strong working relationships across AECOM and with global project teams.
Proven experience leading and building multidisciplinary teams.
Bilingualism in French and English.
Valid driver’s license.
Additional Information    Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
All newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
Compensation Range: CAD 120,000 – CAD 200,000 per year.
