The Opportunity Explore Limitless Possibilities

Join WSP's growing Mining Industrial Hygiene practice in Sudbury and help create safer, healthier workplaces across Northern Ontario and beyond. As an Early Career Professional Industrial Hygienist
, you will contribute to meaningful industrial hygiene and environmental health & safety projects that support critical industries, including mining, renewable energy, manufacturing, transportation, industrial/commercial operations, and government clients.

This role offers the opportunity to build technical expertise through field assessments, data analysis, reporting, and client engagement while working alongside experienced professionals committed to your development. The position includes periodic travel to client sites throughout Northern Ontario and, occasionally, elsewhere in Canada. You can expect to spend up to 50% of your time in the field conducting assessments in industrial environments.

  • Conduct industrial hygiene assessments, including exposure monitoring, noise assessments, hazardous materials surveys, and occupational health evaluations.
  • Collect, document, and manage field observations and sampling data using industry-standard tools and electronic systems.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative information to identify workplace risks and support evidence-based recommendations.
  • Prepare accurate, concise, and technically sound reports that help clients improve worker health, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Interpret and apply occupational health, safety, and industrial hygiene legislation, standards, and guidance documents.
  • Support environmental health and safety audits, program development initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality solutions for clients across a variety of industries.
  • Promote and uphold a strong safety culture by following safe work practices and contributing to positive project outcomes.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 1 to 3 years of industrial hygiene experience, including workplace exposure assessment and sampling activities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, industrial hygiene principles, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency using industrial hygiene sampling equipment, monitoring instruments, and related field technologies.
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills with the ability to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to independently manage priorities while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to client sites year-round, including remote industrial and mining environments.
  • Capability to work safely in industrial facilities and mine sites, including navigating stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, and carrying field equipment.
