Position: Senior Mechanical Layout Designer Role
Location: Greater Sudbury

Drive innovation at WSP as a Senior Mechanical Layout Designer in Sudbury, Ontario. Focus on heavy industrial projects and collaborate with experts while optimizing layouts through advanced modeling techniques.

As a key player in the design team, you will have the opportunity to shape heavy industrial projects by preparing detailed 3D models and layout arrangements for plant upgrades and new developments. Collaborate with engineering teams while ensuring compliance with rigorous standards. With a minimum of eight years of experience, your expertise in mechanical installation and industry practices is fundamental for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and optimize 3D models for mechanical layouts

• Review and validate engineering drawings prior to fabrication

• Document design calculations and create design briefs

• Conduct comprehensive trade-off studies for project feasibility

• Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams for project delivery

Requirements:

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology

• Over 8 years of relevant mechanical design experience

• Familiarity with Solid Edge, Smart Plant, and Microstation

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Proven experience in mining or industrial sectors
