Work schedule:
Monday – Friday – 37.5 hrs

Purpose of Role: The Millwright is responsible for the assembly, repair, and overhaul of pumps, cyclones, valves, HPGR crushers, and other mining and rotating processing equipment. The role involves working in the service shop repairing equipment supplied by Weir for mining operations, and supporting field work at mines up to 25‑30% of the time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Machine Installation:
    Install stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools, including piping, guards, couplings, sheaves, and belt drives for rotating equipment.
  • Field Service Work:
    Install and commission rotating assemblies in the field, including bearing assemblies, grout and alignment. Resolve mechanical issues in both shop and field environments, performing pneumatic and hydraulic pressure testing.
  • Inspect Equipment:
    Examine equipment upon arrival for irregularities and malfunctions and communicate findings to engineering, management, and other trades colleagues to determine a suitable repair strategy.
  • Preventative Maintenance:
    Participate in the PM program on all equipment to continuously improve machine performance.
  • Safety First:
    Demonstrate 100% commitment to zero‑harm behaviors and support the development of a world‑class safety culture.
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications
  • Licensed Journeyman or Red Seal Millwright (433A).
  • 5+ years post‑apprenticeship experience in assembly, repair, and overhaul of pumps and mechanical rotating equipment.
  • Previous experience working in a pump or valve shop or in the mining industry is highly beneficial.
